1 Thessalonians 5:11 (KJV)
“Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another…”
Everyone needs encouragement. Even strong believers have difficult days. Even faithful people become tired. Even those who encourage others sometimes need encouragement themselves. God designed the church to be a place where believers can build one another up. A handshake, a hug, a prayer, a worship song, a testimony, a conversation in the hallway, or a timely word from God's Word can make a difference in someone's life. You may walk into church carrying a burden and leave with renewed strength. But there is another side to this: someone else may need the encouragement that God has placed inside of you. Don't underestimate the power of your presence. Your faithfulness may be someone else's encouragement.
Prayer
Lord, make me an encourager. Help me come to church not only asking, “What can I receive?” but also asking, “Who can I encourage?” Use my presence, my words, my testimony, and my prayers to strengthen someone who is struggling. Make our church a place where people experience genuine love and encouragement. Amen.
