Acts 2:42 (KJV)
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
The early church understood the importance of consistency. They continued steadfastly. They learned together. They fellowshipped together. They ate together. They prayed together. Spiritual strength doesn't happen accidentally. Just as our bodies need nourishment, our spirits need continual nourishment from God's Word, prayer, worship, and fellowship. Regularly gathering with believers helps create spiritual rhythms in our lives. There will be weeks when we feel strong and weeks when we feel weak. There will be seasons when we are excited and seasons when we are tired. But faithfulness means we don't allow our emotions to determine whether we pursue God. Sometimes you go because you feel hungry for God. Sometimes you go because you need encouragement. Sometimes you go because someone else needs you. And sometimes you simply go because you made a commitment to God that He would be first.
Prayer
Father, help me develop spiritual consistency. Give me discipline when I don't feel motivated and hunger when I feel spiritually dry. Help me recognize the value of worship, teaching, fellowship, and prayer with other believers. Strengthen me as I continue steadfastly in You. Amen.
Today’s Declaration
